The Indian Trellis design has been adapted from a silk brocade in the Museum's collection, woven with gold thread in Benares in the 1880s. The Indian name for the net or trellis pattern is called 'jali'. Benares (Varanasi) was, and remains, famous for its silk weaving, and a number of examples from its workshops can be found in the V&A.
Matching pillowcases, curtains, cushion and throw are also available in this range.
